A person without imagination is like a teabag without hot water. -Alan Fletcher-

Aren’t you tired of staying at home? Don’t you need a new photograph to upload in a dusty Instagram feed? Here is an exhibition which fits your needs perfectly. It is a retrospective exhibition of Alan Fletcher that will be held in Busan Citizen's Hall Gallery until June 21st. Alan Fletcher is a maestro who is called “The legend of the UK Graphic Design.” Furthermore, he is a founder of “Pentagram,” a global design consulting firm.
The exhibition hall has two floors, and there are five sections in total. Many works are displayed, ranging from sketches to typography left by him. I will introduce the most impressive artworks. First, “Pirelli Slipper”, an advertisement design on the double-decker bus exterior wall, represents a British graphic design in the 1960s. The eye-catching design, which involved bus passengers in advertising, was trendy at that time. If there were SNS in 1962, the picture of this advertisement would have been uploaded numerous times. This work is in the second section, and it is the most massive in scale. In the third section, you can see the package design of goods such as fast food packages, calendars, and posters. Those artworks are contemporary enough to overshadow the fact that has been nearly 60 years since they were created. Therefore, they make visitors confused about whether they are at the exhibition hall or the prop shop.
I thought about the reason why people like "Retro culture" while watching his works. His artworks show a classical novelty, which is hard to find nowadays, and the refinedness value attracting all generations with witty ideas. Do you want to feel the essence of retro? Do you want new inspiration? Satisfy your thirst in <WELCOME TO MY STUDIO!>.
