No candidates for the club association came out this time.

The by-election of the PNU club association was canceled due to no one stepping forward for candidates. Moreover, it seems hard to set up the Emergency Operation Facility (EOF), so we are worried about the club activities.

On March 11th, the EOF of the club association announced that the by-election was postponed on account of no candidates of 2 per team that came up. According to Article 105 Paragraph 2 of the Rules of the Association of Clubs, one main candidate, and one sub candidate must be included in the list of candidates, but only one main candidate came up.

Therefore, the PNU club association must plan for another EOF. Due to the rules of the Association of Clubs, if the election is canceled due to any reasons, they must recruit a temporary association and call the steering committee to elect the EOF and the sub EOF.

However, establishing the EOF does not seem easy either. Currently, there are 5 chief vacancies and only the literary exhibition and religion stayed. The club association is left for two chiefs, chairman and vice-chairman of the EOF. Later, the election is planned for that, but it is unsure if any candidates will step up.

If the club association is not established, the emptiness of the student self-government will cause problems. The association received 15% of the student union fee to support each club. According to the Rules of the Association of Clubs, the EOF does not have to progress events that are not related to them, and it is allowed to progress events that are downsized. In this case, it is hard to promote big PNU events that are annually driven.

This situation will affect the management of Central Clubs too. The club association was the connection between the clubs and the student council of PNU. Therefore, if there is no club association, each club must contact the student council for their needs. The clubs’ advertising and performances at PNU were the roles of the club association. Conforming to Kim Seo-Hyun (18, Dept. of Korean Literature in Classical Chinese), manager of Central Clubs, said, “The club association supported many COVID-19 supplies, and helped the clubs to have performances during the pandemic.“

The EOF of the club association will find a resolution to this situation. Park Jeong-Jae (17, Dept. of Earth Science Education), the chief of the literary exhibition, said, “What is important is that we have to react with attention to the clubs. I think we can find at least a way for this situation if we share opinions at a general meeting with club association members.” Also, Park Kyung-Hwa (19, Dept. of Food Science & Nutrition), the president of EOF, said, “I will do my best to hand over for the next even if the by-election is canceled.”
