The cultural organizations in Busan have been planning various exhibitions, performances, and festivals. The Busan Cultural Center has been preparing for many events, such as the “Busan MARU International Music Festival,” the “Henri Matisse: Life and Joy,” and the “Grand Art Exhibition of Busan.” Additionally, there are also different kinds of events every month.

△ BUSAN BIENNALE 2022

The title is “WE, ON THE RISING WAVE.” This event contains the story of Busan's history and urban structure since the modern times. It will be held at the original downtown in Busan, Museum of Contemporary Art Busan, Pier 1 of Busan Port, Yeongdo, and Chorang from September 3rd to November 6th. Everyone can book a ticket on an online link or Naver reservation.

△ Busan MARU International Music Festival 2022

The “Busan MARU International Music Festival” celebrates its 13th anniversary this year. It is comprised of six themes: Main Concert, Ensemble Concert, Promenade Concert, International Video Music, Special Concert, and Fringe Concert. △ The 2022 Culture & Arts Flea Market <Boogi Market>

The Culture & Arts Flea Market, the “Boogi Market,” closed due to the swelting weather, and will reopen on the first Saturday of September. This market will support the sale of works created by artists from Busan and will give citizens a place to share culture and arts. The event will be held at Memory Pillars of Busan Citizens Park until October.

△ Henri Matisse: Life and Joy

The retrospective exhibition of Henri Matisse will be held in Busan. The original version of “Jazz” which is the painter’s masterpiece will be exhibited for the first time in Busan. In addition, special lectures (September 14th, October 1st) connected with the exhibition will be prepared. △ 2022 Busan International Film Festival

Busan ​​International Film Festival, Asia's largest film festival, is scheduled for 10 days from October 5th to 14th. There are 14 “Program Sections”: GALA Presentation, Icons, Jiseok, A Window on Asian Cinema, New Currents, Korean Cinema Today_Panorama, Korean Cinema Today_Vision, Korean Cinema Retrospective, World Cinema, Flash Forward, Wide Angle, Open Cinema, Midnight Passion, On Screen, and Special Program in Focus. △ 2022 Busan International Rock Festival

The 23rd Busan International Rock Festival will be held at Samnak Ecological Park on October 1st and October 2nd. The artists of the first line-up are as follows: HONNE, Jannabi, Se So Neon, Glen Check, ADOY, Galaxy Express, Silica Gel, Hila Ruach, I Mean Us, and HATHAW9Y. △ The 48th Grand Art Exhibition of Busan

The opening ceremony of the Grand Art Exhibition of Busan will take place on November 18th. The exhibition will be held at the Busan Cultural Center, 2nd floor of Busan Metropolitan Government, and Busan Citizen’s Hall. It starts with the first part of Western painting and sculpture on November 14th. The schedule will conclude on December 3rd with the literary paintings and Korean paintings.

△ Hisaishi Joe Film Music Concert 2022 Busan

The Hisaishi Joe Film Music Concert will be held at Busan Citizen’s Hall on November 20th. Miyazaki Hayao's OST of Studio Ghibli can be seen as an orchestra performance. Tickets can be reserved on Interpark. More details can be found in the announcement of the host. 

△ Busan Fireworks Festival 2022

The 17th Busan Fireworks Festival will take place on November 5th. It will include a large scale of fireworks and media facade which utilizes the view lighting of Gwangan Bridge, so people can enjoy a multi-fireworks show and fireworks showcase from the invited firework teams.
