Unlike previous years, PNU general students’ association election schedule is postponed because of the Siwol-Je festival postponement.

On November 1st, Pusan National University (PNU) Election Commission (EC) announced the implementation and schedule of the 55th PNU General Students’ Association election. EC said that the political campaign will be held if candidates register from November 14th to 16th, and the casting of the vote will be held from December 5th to 7th, for three days, and from 9 AM to 7 PM. 

Unlike previous years, when the EC held the vote at the end of November, the PNU General Students’ Association election will be held in early December. In the last five years, The PNU General Students’ Association election was held at the end of November. From the 50th to the 53rd elections, each was held from November 28th to 29th, November 27th to 28th, November 26th to 27th, and November 24th to 26th, respectively. The 54th election was expected to be held from November 23rd to 25th, but it was operated as an agency of authority system because there were no registration of candidates.

EC revealed that they inevitably postponed the election. Yu Bo-Hyeong (Dept. of Media & Communication, 17), PNU General Student’s Association chairman, announced the “The postponement of the Siwol-Je Festival and the election schedule, which EC must guarantee due to the detailed rules of the election. Due to circumstance, we had to hold the vote the week before the final exam, but we ask for your generous understanding. Please bring a lot of attention to the vote for student autonomy.”
