On March 27th, a free shuttle bus connecting the Busan Campus and the Yangsan Campus began operating.

The first shuttle bus from the Busan Campus to the Yangsan Campus has begun to operate across Pusan National University (PNU). It is expected that exchanges will become more active because the movement time between campuses is reduced, and commuting to school is convenient.

On March 24th, PNU Yangsan Campus announced this through the PNU website and department notice. What was once a commuter bus for faculty members between the Busan Campus and the Yangsan Campus, has now become the first shuttle bus for students.

The shuttle bus service was designed to promote the balanced development of Busan and Yangsan and to enhance the convenience of students. An official at Yangsan shuttle bus said, “Buses are operated to form intimate relationships between students on campus and to promote exchanges. Reflecting on the results of demand surveys from Yangsan members, we coordinated the time available with PNU headquarters.”

The shuttle bus will run free of charge throughout the year except for weekends and holidays from March 27th. Each one-way bus comes and goes three times a day. Passengers include PNU students and faculty members, who can board for free without any certification. Buses from the Busan will depart at 9:50 am, 1:30 pm, and 5:00 pm in front of the Humanities Bldg, and buses from the Yangsan will depart at 9:00 am, 10:30 am, and 2:10 pm in front of the School of Korean Medicine. It takes 30 minutes to get to and from both campuses by bus.

Student A (School of Pharmacy, 20), who lives in Yangsan, said, “I commute from Yangsan to Busan, and I take the bus about three times a week. It is good because the commute time is shortened.” Student B (School of Dentistry, 20) said, “I think it might help students interact with each other as well as campus-based exchanges.”

Meanwhile, in the case of Miryang Campus, shuttle buses between the Miryang Campus and PNU Station and Seomyeon Station on Busan Metro Line 1 are operated. Applications are received in advance before the beginning of the course. Passangers have to pay the basic fare of 4,600 won per round trip when boarding.
