The lack of information on the PNU club page has caused inconvenience for students. Despite promises to improve the neglected webpage, the situation remains unchanged.

Students are experiencing inconvenience with the Pusan National University (PNU) club webpage, which has been neglected for several years. Although PNU Division of Student Affairs promised a year and six months ago to improve the neglected webpage, the situation remained unchanged. Recognizing the problem, PNU has extended the deadline for improvement to the next semester.

“Channel PNU” reported the difficulty of PNU students in figuring out campus clubs due to the neglected club guidance homepage (club page) in 2022 (reported by  “Channel PNU” on August 31st, 2022). Despite being the only club organization page on campus, there were not any photos and descriptions of clubs. And most of them had no accessible links. At that time, PNU announced that it will improve the page by the spring semester of 2023, but “Channel PNU” found no improvements on March 13th after the beginning of the semester.

In the coverage in 2022, PNU attributed the neglect of the homepage to the omission of the handover during the website redesign. PNU Division of Public Relations and Communications had granted management authority for the club page to the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) and the Club Association (CA) in 2018 when reorganizing the PNU website extensively. However, because the person in charge had changed, the reorganization of the homepage management did not occur smoothly (reported by “Channel PNU” on August 31st, 2022). At that time, the DSA and the CA said that they would request management accounts from the predecessor and update the website.

However, this year, the DSA and the CA were unaware of the existence of the club page. Both organizations expressed that the handover process was neglected again. In the interview with “Channel PNU” on March 11th, club management personnel of DSA stated, “I didn’t even know there was a webpage. There was no handover because the predecessor resigned before I took control.” The CA president Kim Sang-Won (Dept. of Industrial Engineering, 22), also mentioned, “The 2023 CA executive committee was disconnected with us in many ways. Since there was no handover, I didn’t even know that there was a webpage.”

Club recruitment is at the peak as the new semester begins, but the neglected club page fails to help students during this time when there is considerable interest in clubs. Apart from the club webpage, there is nowhere students can find information about clubs such as the history, introduction, or the location of club rooms, making students unsatisfied. The CA’s SNS only consists of pictures listing club names by category. Student Lee Young-Hoo (Dept. of Chemistry, 20) said “When I was a freshman, I tried to use the club website but it was not helpful. It’s a pity that if the webpage were more active, finding clubs would be easier, which makes club culture more active.”

The DSA and the CA said that they will establish new management measures and improve the webpage in an interview with “Channel PNU.” Club management personnel of DSA stated, “The management itself should be handled by the CA. We will provide guidance on management and methods to the CA to update the webpage.” CA President Kim also mentioned, “We have a list of central clubs and contents. We will collaborate with the DSA and manage the webpage.”
