The class registration system of Pusan National University (PNU) is transforming to a convenient design with high readability and a waiting system.

PNU Office of Information Technology & Services opened the online presentation on October 26th. Through this presentation, they revealed that they are officially launching the "Next Generation Smart Education Information System" this upcoming October 30th, 2022. Among the improvements, improving the existing class registration system, which has caused an automatic logout problem, has been included

The critical point of the class registration system is the “waiting system.” If students register for the lecture, which is closed, they get a numbered ticket in the order of arrival. Students, who failed to register the class, had to access and wait to register for their desired lecture. Through this waiting system, the lecture registration was possible only if there was an empty seat. Even if it is the same lecture, it plans to reduce confusion by giving different waiting numbers depending on the divided groups, such as major, a double and minor major, and general selection.

The class registration board also opens. This will help students to share information on the class and communicate smoothly on classes they wish to take or cancel. Remarkably, a word setting function allows students to receive a separate notification, so they can receive a piece of information whenever a post containing the word has been posted.

The next-generation smart education information system also includes the PNU student support system, PNU student competency support system, PNU education information system, and PNU smart campus app. PNU student support system will provide a One-Stop service, in which students can check the bachelor's schedule, such as class and lecture evaluations on the first screen. On each page, the online manual will be placed on a banner, so we can understand how to utilize the services.

The brand-new student competency support system provides a unified use environment by integrating non-curricular program, PASS, portfolio, and employment, which has been distributed across various platforms in the past. On the website's first screen, a “competency badge・grades・mileage score” will be placed so that students can check their achievement of the core abilities. Also, the existing competency support system is further subdivided, and each clause is connected to help students manage their competencies more efficiently.

The PNU education information system is the unified service of the faculty work portal and university resource management system. Because they can work without any restrictions on the device and operating system, the faculty will be working more conveniently. All these services are also available on mobile through the newly launched ‘Smart Campus App.’

PNU Office of Information Technology & Services has informed the community that their goal was to build a system that integrates existing support systems while expanding the convenience of information access and management. It reflects the demand for the unification of undergraduate information due to the diversification of education forms according to COVID-19. An Official of the PNU Office of Information Technology & Services said, “For the upcoming winter semester, the reorganized class registration system will be implemented on a trial basis. We hope that the convenience of use for PNU members will increase by strengthening information integration and sharing support of next-generation smart systems.”
